Over 5,000 members! Also: NEW CONTEST!

Our membership has skyrocketed recently, and while Korra news is sure to be a reason, we can't deny that you as a community have actively sought new members. It used to be that I felt like the only one advertising among other subreddits, but these days I come across redirects before I even get to do it myself.

So a congratulations is in order for the hard work of the whole community in spreading the word and inviting new members. When we started out, news of Korra was only beginning to trickle in. But now, with only months left before the new series, we must look back and reflect on the community's growth. It's been slow going, but the subreddit has never been without activity. We fought hard to drizzle in the content, and soon we'll be fighting back a flood.

So here's to you r/TheLastAirbender! And here's to 10k more!

NEW CONTEST

Get your pens ready, it's time for a new contest. Our next contest will involve fanfiction in order to embrace the world of old and welcome the new age of Korra. Mike and Brian did an amazing job creating a believable and beautiful world full of culture and history. With Korra set 70 years in the future, it seems only right to send off the old world right.

Here are the rules for the contest:

• All submissions must be 1k words or more.
• All submissions must be set in the Last Airbender world. Time period does not matter, but remember that the point of this contest is to embrace the world as created. Original characters are encouraged, your plot need not involve the Gaang.
• All submissions must be submitted to the moderators in a .pdf format. You will need to submit them over scribd or ask the moderators for help with submission.
• Submissions must be received by March 31st.

Your fanfiction will be judged on your writing ability, creativity/originality, and the bias opinion of the subreddit. The grading will try and be as fair as possible, and I'll post more news on it as soon as I can.

Prizes:

As like last time, there will be prizes for multiple winners as ranked. The grade prize will be a copy of The Promise or The Lost Adventures, as chosen by the winner.
