Can we remove ads from our sub if we get enough powerups or the mods pay?

Subreddit

There should be a paid sub that can be ad-free. Subs run by businesses would definitely pay to be ad-free.

let's say sub owner/top mod. I wouldn't expect random employees moderating a company sub to pay but if the top mod is the CEO of the company, they might be willing to pay to take ads off the sub.

Yes, I understand the technicalities. Whether it would be a worthwhile investment to remove ads would be up to the individual sub. Personally, I'd be willing to pay at least $100/mo to take ads off of r/kraken. We run several other communities on a variety of platforms. We support a subreddit here because we want to make engagement easy on our clients who are also reddit users. Same goes for Discord, Telegram, Facebook, etc.

This would be cool to have, and could even result in more businesses having their “home” on Reddit.

Presumably this would have a greater chance of happening if it didn’t run the risk of cannibalising Premium subscriptions.

To that end, perhaps this could be a benefit of Power-Ups. That way both the subreddit moderators and the community could choose to remove adverts.
