I am a 25-year-old entrepreneur running for Congress against a 37-year incumbent. AMA

Hello folks,

My name is Christopher David. I am a 25-year-old entrepreneur running for U.S. Congress to represent California's new 33rd congressional district, spanning the coast of Los Angeles from Malibu to Palos Verdes.

The district is currently represented by the 37-year incumbent Henry Waxman. He voted to authorize the Iraq war, didn't oppose SOPA, enabled Solyndra, and generally has been a permanent fixture of the Washington establishment.

The year I was born, Waxman had already been in office for 12 years. I think it's time for him to find something else to do.

I am running for Congress because right now no one represents the youth.

And because I believe America needs real, systemic, transformative change.

Both parties have been an obstacle to that change.

They don't work with each other. Almost no one reaches across the aisle anymore.

They play games of 'he said, she said' while focusing primarily on the next election, not on solving our problems.

They care about getting re-elected and papering over America's most pressing issues.

Right now "getting things done in Washington" means kicking the can down the road as far as possible, so the next Congress or the one after that gets blamed for the increasingly likely major crises or collapse.

America needs leaders willing to run AGAINST the political class and the bipartisan status quo. Not more go-along-to-get-along weaklings afraid to stand up for the people over lobbyists and special interests.

I am running as a Republican because I think that the (weak, rudderless, visionless) GOP has the most potential as a political vehicle to nurture the rising generation of libertarian-minded leaders who want government to STFU and get out of America's collective bedroom/pocketbook/business.

Politically I am hard to define. I am a transpartisan coalition-builder. I've been to Occupy events, tea parties, and anti-war rallies. I will talk or work with anyone who agrees that the country needs real, fundamental change. Not more sell-out politicians maintaining the status quo.

I am excited to see in Americans Elect a potentially viable third path that can challenge the two-party duopoly. I will throw my weight behind any effort that reduces the power of the permanent political class - term limits, easier ballot access for third parties, closing the revolving door, reducing the power of money over the political process... I am open to ideas.

What our country needs now more than anything else are strong advocates for peace, strong advocates for real change, people able and willing to raise their voice above the distractions and deceptions of modern politics and send a clear message that America must change course.

If a 25-year-old kid defeats a 37-year incumbent, America will sit up and take notice. The status-quo politicians will fear for their seats, knowing that if it can happen to Waxman, it can happen to anyone.

I face a steeply uphill battle. It really just comes down to money. I started with nothing. Waxman starts with $800k in the bank, and the ability to pick up the phone and raise millions of dollars from his friends in the establishment.

I will beat him with people power.

He is not campaigning in the primary. He has no campaign website. His Facebook page has only 600 fans. He thinks he has this in the bag. Doesn't need to lift a finger.

I am campaigning as if my life depends on it.

And thanks to California's Prop 14, we will be on the same primary ballot.

If I beat Waxman in that primary, I'll raise millions of dollars in the general. And if I neutralize Waxman's money advantage, I can win.

Political dinosaurs like Waxman are a thing of the past.

Citizen-politicians are the thing of the future.

I don't care what party you are. I want to earn your support.

Ask me anything.

If you like what you see, please throw me a few dollars. You don't have to agree with me on everything. But if we can show to the country the power of a decentralized, internet-driven political campaign, we will see a lot more of them.
