New this year Player Take: Is Pinpoint Pitching bad for the game?

Hot Take

Disclaimer: I'm aware this is a controversial topic, so if you're going to downvote this, at least provide purposeful feedback. I'm just making an observation. I know I'm bad, I know I'm dumb, I know I'm a noob and I promise I'll be offended when you point that out.

When I picked this game up on early access, I got on reddit, signed up and read what people were doing and of all the praises I heard the most of, it was pinpoint pitching. Youtubers and twitch streamers kept saying how great it is.

Now that the season is over, I've seen a lot of complaints about it. "It's too easy to dot" "Ranked seasons suck because it's always a 1-0 outcome" etc etc. I am not privy to how ranked seasons and multiplayer were like before this year, but in my experience in ranked season, I gotta be honest, it's just not that fun. I echo a lot of the same complaints, it's boring and it's too easy to pitch shutout ball with the right pitchers.

While pinpoint is a kinda fun mini game, I personally don't like it. Not just as a batter who can't hit dotted down and away sliders to save my life, as a pitcher as well. I'm not a pro at this game by any stretch. My record is .500ish, but that means I shouldn't be able to get 24 consecutive hitless innings with Verlander, right? I feel cheesy and guilty when I pitch with him. It's no fun for my opponent and I know it. I even take him out in the 9th to put in a reliever to give my opponent some hope. I also don't use OP pitchers anymore because you know what? I like to field and I don't care about losing, so I take Saberhagen in ranked all the time.

There is no real penalty for screwing up, either. I remember accidentally starting a slider when I meant to start a changeup on degrom and I just spazzed out my controller and it went up and in for a strike. Come on...I like good luck but I like realism more. So you mess up and the ball goes in a random area, it doesn't make it easier to hit or give the attributes of the batter a boost.

The vast turn of opinions about how good pinpoint is when the game came out to now everyone saying RS is a godawful chore because of how powerful/easy pitching is is honestly kind of a bummer and will leave me a little less excited for The Show 22. I am now pretty much all offline because honestly, it's more interesting to me.

What do you vets think? I don't think it's the biggest issue in the game, that for me is how unrealistically and cartoonishly fast outfielders are. Not just the speed but the acceleration of slow outfielders being able to catch up to a 110mph line drive down the line is just demoralizing and feels like I'm playing some old nintendo game. But now that we're winding down, would you guys like to see pinpoint be nerfed? Removed altogether? Or do you think it's just fine and I should just git gud(at hitting) and git bad(at pitching)?

Thanks for reading that blob. If you didn't-----V

TL:DR Is Pinpoint too OP? I think so from both hitting and pitching. Should it be changed to make Multiplayer more enjoyable next year?
