[VOW] Alchemist's Retrieval
Alchemist's Retrieval {U}
Instant
Cleave {1}{U} (You may cast this spell for its cleave cost. If you do, remove the words in square brackets.)
Return target nonland permanent [you control] to its owner’s hand.
So, is this the best generalist blue card in the set? At worst it is a Winds of Rebuke / Geistwave without the additional effect, but potentially could be the blue Rite of Flame (with a Mana Crypt in play) or an insane Dockside doubler that spanks you for 1 off an Ad Nauseam.
Thoughts?

I was in a pod with a codie player the other night who used [[suspend]] to protect his codie and potential dockside doubling. This card reminded me of that.

Is codie competitive edh or a particular commander?
im legitimately impressed you've played cedh this long without running into codie. You are a lucky guy.
This is true. I live a charmed life.
To answer, yes, codie is competitive. The idea is 1cmc spell into profane tutor into bring to light into ad Naus. You usually go for that turn 2, turn 3 if you were very unlucky. It's super fast and consistent, but also a bit all-in and even more dependant of the draw you have on ad Naus since you need to remove codie to be able to play most of your win-cons.
Oh yeah, you can see the profane command coming from a mile away and sometimes the table just can't cast enough counterspells to put it down.
