Hell yeah! I did Fidelity -> Ally -> CS with my Rollover IRA. The shares should show up in CS any day now bc they disappeared from Ally yesterday. I followed u/youniversawme exactly, even their same letter and email.

When transferring to Ally, did you keep it a rollover or go with Roth/traditional? I transferred mine and kept it rollover. I hope I didn’t do it wrong 😬😬

That’s what I did. In u/niversawme original or second post, he sets up matching IRAs in Ally for what they had in Fidelity - Roth for Roth, traditional for traditional, so I did Rollover for Rollover

I created a CS account and purchased a share before I started the process over a month ago. I wanted to make sure I had some place for the shares to land. It took about 5 days for the shares to leave Vanguard and show up at Ally. I followed the instructions in the link above exactly. After writing the letter of instruction, the shares left my Ally account last Friday (11/5). I kept checking my CS account everyday waiting for them to show up in my account. On Wednesday of this week I started to get a little nervous, so I called CS. They searched by my social and said that there were no other shares held other than my account with one. I then called Ally and they mentioned that the DRS process was taking a little longer than normal due to the high volume (love you apes!). They said it might take up to two weeks for them to show up. I calmed myself and decided I would just keep checking everyday and not panic. Then out of nowhere I get the letter today showing the shares were in the account. I checked my online account again, and still they weren't in there. I noticed the letter had a new account number. I started to call them about seeing if I could get the accounts combined, and then thought better of it. It probably isn't wise to combine an individual broker and IRA account together, so I've opted to leave them separate. I'm not selling any of these shares anyway, so who cares if they are easy to access or not. Just a heads up for anyone else looking to do this with their IRAs.

You can have them connect both acct numbers to one login. I also have two CS accts but both under one login.
It's likely there was some tiny difference between your Ally info and the info you used to buy a single share. Could be the different of using Matt or Matthew, a middle initial, Street or St in the address. No big deal and easily fixed if you want to stare at your sexy IRA shares online.

Yes, it will be separate accounts, due to the IRA. And if one transfers Roth and Traditional, these will be separate too. WTG, ape!!

Hey could you recommend the best means of switching a TDSP at vanguard to an IRA able to switch to CS? I have been handling my moms portfolios and finances since an accident last year and the work around a to do general brokers wasn’t hard but I know nothing about TDSPs or IRA and such and I am hoping to be able to switch hers to an IRA so I can reallocate her portfolio before the shit storms comes and then be able to send it to CS for her. Any suggestions is appreciated, I know people have been having issues with vanguard and was hoping I could walk through the steps with her online instead of calling because unfortunately I don’t have her power of attorney due to other family stuff. Thanks in advance!

I absolutely love the fact that Ally made it easy to register retirement shares, but does nobody else have disdain for Ally's clearing house, APEX???? Same Apex that caused a lot of trouble in Jan... just saying, I don't think I trust Apex with my stash.
