That looks like your seasoning has been flaking away. I have one that did that once. You can either strip it down using lye or e tank or you can just keep seasoning over it

Thank you! I wasn’t sure but didn’t seem rusty to me. I appreciate your help

If you are worried that it may be rust, you could hit those spots with a scotch Brite pad or some salt and a rag first to make sure you take away any rust that may be there, and then go ahead and season it right over.

Ive been taught... Heat the skillet. Boil a bit of water. Pour water in . Swish around. Wipe it down. Put skillet back on low flame ( to let excess moisture escape) then oil up

Thank you for your picture post to r/castiron. We want to remind everyone of Rule #3. All image posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is required.

If you've posted a picture of food, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn't really fostering any discussion which is what we're all aiming for.

Posts that are a picture with no discussion can and will be removed by the mods.

Thank you!

Looks like mine. Not rust. Just add a few layers of seasoning if you want. Good to go!

That bronze look is just the cast iron. You’ll be fine seasoning on top of it.
