Spoiler Alert for Leviathan Falls!

New Theory: The Sins of Our Fathers is about Alex.

At the end of Leviathan Falls, Alex is pushing the damaged Rosi too hard and it starts breaking down while Alex is on the way to see Kit. So imagine this: Alex barely makes it planetside and the Rosi is broken beyond repair. With his expert piloting and some luck he barely makes it there with his life. The whole time he is crashing his life flashes before his eyes of how terrible he was as a father, and he promeses himself he will make it up by being the best grandfather he can be. However, It turns out that the dropshop with it's tranciever turned off that he is forced to destroy while defending the ring station in Leviathan falls...

(Remember, the book specifically takes time to mention the unknown and unarmed ship that just burns full force at the ring station before he and Naomi lament all the people they probably killed after destroying it!)
