What features make a tattoo age best?

Discussion

Asking because I'm curious, most of the ink I'm planning are symbols or simple designs etc, but in the future if I want something more detailed one of my big concerns would be how good it'd look in 20 years.

Size. The bigger you do it the better it’ll hold up and less chance it blurs into a smudgy mess.

The ink these days is a lot better than it was say 30 years ago, but anything like water colour or fine line will need some fixing in the next few years, as for aging it’s inevitable. I must say though I work in an emergency department and have plenty of people over 80 with smudged tattoos that I can’t make out, but they always have a story to tell and don’t regret them, which I think is a good lesson.

In my opinion, traditional bold lines look the best in with age.

Color will automatically make a tattoo age more then black and Grey and avoid watercolour it’s a boat I wouldn’t get in lol .. as someone else said the bigger the design the more legible it will be over time since smaller tats almost “ bleed together” over time also depending on the climate you live in ( I live in Canada so my tattoos get a lot less exposure to the sun then say if I lived in Florida so they won’t fade as quick also make sure your putting sunscreen on when you are exposing your tattoos to the sun

Bold lines and deep colors. (or no colors)
