VR Auto mining skills

Discussion

I've heard that the "Auto" mining skills will transfer through VR so we don't have to physically go to each site to maintain calibration. Any one know when that will be implemented?

As of 12/5/2021 the calibration bonus from your skills don't transfer.

To clarify:The talents that apply even while in VR, are the ones that generate the charges. Not the consumption, this means that while in VR you still generate charges at the same rate as you would normally.

The talents that benefit the using of those charges however still only benefit while not in VR.

I hope this clears some of the confusion.

Thats a shame it doesn't work through VR. Just an idea but that would be a good perk if you it was unlockable by the highest and last level 5 skill train in the mining unit tree. Would also possibly turn it into a mini profession.

I had no issues calibrating in VR today, got all 100% even though some were 96 or 97...might be a separate bug. But I did get less surface ore after calibrating. Usually I'd get 3600-4400 L, in VR it was 900-2500.

you don't get the calibration bonus from your talents. Which is really lame.

That's kinda how VR works though

Normally, yes. But I had heard it was going to be different for auto mining.

I hope not. You absolutely should have to travel there to get character bonuses like everything else.

They just mentioned in their q and a that no mining talents apply while in vr. Efficiency doesnt apply, however charges remain, though if you arent going to get more than 40% calibration you likely wont need it. I did notice though with max skills i can pull 182L if i visit in person and only max 108L for the same spot while in VR.

Anyone else confirm?

From what I have heard the MU talents that you don't have while in surrogate most only impact the amount of the ore that spawns on the surface after a calibration. If someone has figured out the exact impact I would love hear it.

from their q&a in discord:

The design of surrogates is that there is a tradeoff between doing stuff in person and doing it through surrogates. This tradeoff is handled by the fact that surrogates don’t have talents. It applies to PvP, mining units, industries, piloting, etc.
Note that mining calibration can be done by other players, and you can organize yourself with your organization and your friends so that you don’t have to traverse the universe to calibrate your mining units. Through RDMS, you can calibrate other people’s mining units, and we expect organizations and groups of players to “trade” those calibration charges.

Thank you for finding the information. Guess its time to invest in a warp ship.

Wish I could get those points back…
