What was up with the undertaker guy?

Spoiler

He must have been doing his job for a pretty long time. Why was he taken down so easily? I mean, did all the guys he was supposed to to kill just always kneel down and die willingly instead of go down fighting? How did he ever kill anyone? How easily he and his men died was just too stupid and cliche.

That’s the thing about violence. As silly/out there as some of the things in Fargo is, it typically gets violence right. It’s fast, it’s brutal, and whoever is taken by surprise usually loses.

Movies and video games have boss fights with the main baddy or henchman. That’s not ever how it goes down.

I guess he was surprised to be greeted by Milligan.

The point was that he was sent there to take over for/ help Milligan. Why would expect an ally to outright blast him when they technically work for the same outfit?

Nah it seemed pretty clear that he was sent there to Kill him, idk how people can interpret the conversations that took place on the phone as, ‘you’re replaced’ instead of you’re dead.

Doesn't the narrator in episode 9 even describe him as "the low level enforcer of the Kansas City syndicate, who had been targeted for assasination?"

He was there as an anti "wolf" from Pulp Fiction. Mike took care of it

He didn’t know about the phone call Mike got from the boss. He thought he had the element of surprise under the guise he was with the reinforcements against Fargo.
