Dog asking to pee every 1-2 hours
My beagle is 2 years old and mostly grew up during the pandemic when I am working from home all day every day.
Our trainer told us to bring him out every hour or so when he was a puppy and so we did. We were told he would be able to hold it for longer as he gets older but it never really happened. Now he knows to let us know that he needs to go outside and will whine and walk around the house until someone bring him out. The problem is he is asking to be out every 1-2 hours, or sometimes every 30mins if he drank a lot of water. He is leashed when brought out so he really was just peeing, not playing. We also stopped rewarding him with treats for peeing outside for over 1.5 years. Occasionally, if we ignore his whine for over 10mins, he will squirt a little on the floor so we have to bring him out.
The vet ruled out UTI and he seems super healthy otherwise. He also sleeps through the night with no problem (8-10 hours). Also note that if he is taking naps he wouldn't need to pee as often either (usually 3-4 hours). Also note that if we are not in the house he will mostly just nap and not pee in the house, up to 6-7 hours no problem. He hated the crate so we couldn't really crate train him. Any advice or experience sharing would be appreciated!
