[SPOILERS] Today, on My Little Pony...
Today's episode summarized: Fluttershy is forced to confront her paralyzing fear of others judging her and overcome the emotional scarring she received from childhood abuse from her peers. As it turns out, the reason she lives almost estranged from society is because even the mere presence of strangers inspires terror to a level that makes her unable to function, terror so strong that it even causes hallucinations of thousands of mocking faces surrounding her.
... This is a kid's show? I mean, yeah, it had a happy ending, but, Jesus. This is possibly one of the most heartbreaking kid's... Well, kid's anything that I've ever seen. I like that they didn't compromise with her character; I wouldn't want it any other way. But I'm kind of in shock. When she had that breakdown about the .5 wingpower, I can't tell you how badly I wanted to hold her and tell her everything would be okay. No show has ever elicited this kind of protective response from me.
EDIT: Elicited, not solicited.
