Fellow crows! Allow me to introduce a new subreddit: A Song of Memes and Rage. We want to know your thoughts.
Brothers and Sisters of the Wall:
r/asongofmemesandrage will be a new community dedicated to meme and rage-comic related posts regarding the A Song of Ice and Fire series of books and the television show based on them, Game of Thrones. Only memes and rage-comics will be allowed there; any posts attempting to seriously discuss either series will be removed.
Our current policy regarding memes in this subreddit has not changed. Memes and rage comics and anything that adheres to our spoiler policy is still the law of the land. I just wanted to make that clear.
Again: this is not the announcement of a new policy for this subreddit! Yet...
That said, it's been suggested to me that by creating such a subreddit we can have the best of both worlds. For those who don't mind (or even enjoy!) such content, they can subscribe to r/asomar. We could then, if this community so desires, phase out such content from here and direct such posts to a place where such things are welcome.
I personally don't ever want to see r/asoiaf go self-post only. However, I am starting to worry that we're getting bogged down in memes, rage-comics, and other silly links as we continue to grow. Perhaps by creating and growing a community where such content is not only tolerated but encouraged we can keep r/asoiaf more "serious" for those who only want the serious while also providing a friendly place to go post their hilarious tyrion.jpg memes all the time.
Your thoughts and opinions on this matter are, as always, greatly appreciated.
Your humble servant,
