Sprint users: What do you think? Is it worth waiting for network improvements, or should I just jump ship?
Just wondering because I am very sick of paying like $90/month for service that is hardly any better than when I was on pre-pay vm. Got the 3v0 right after launch because it is a great device and is "4g" wimax enabled. My town has 2 wimax towers and was scheduled to have at least one or two more activated by the beginning of this year but that isn't going to happen now.
So half the time, I am stuck with the unacceptable sub-3g speeds for which sprint is very famous. I have been entering to win the galaxy nexus every day through sprint zone. If I do in fact win one of these devices, then I plan to sell back my 3v0 to sprint and use the gnex. The problem with that is the gnex is an lte phone, and we do not have sprint lte in my town. We are supposed to have that network active by the beginning of next year, but who knows if that will even really happen.
So my idea is to get the gnex (obviously, dependent on winning), and spoof the prl to always roam on verizon 3g. Of course, this will end up with termination. It seems like the etf is waived in these cases.
But even with termination, I would own the gnex since it was not contract subsidized.
Then, the next step would be to spoof esn and use the phone on cheap pre-pay service.
Is this just a ridiculous, asinine idea?
My other options are to either just stick with sprint and wait for network improvements in this town, or pay early termination fee, and switch to verizon or at&t. Or go with a pre-pay carrier that uses verizon or at&t data network. At this point, I would be happy to "downgrade" from sprint wimax to at&t hspa 3g, or verizon 3g.
tl:dr Sprint data situation in my town sucks a bag of dicks. Wait for improvements, or jump ship?
