Opinions on using old bondage gear with new partner?

So, I have this piece of bondage gear that I got about a year ago. It's a collar with a chain down to some cuffs to keep hands behind the back. I originally got it to use with the girl I was seeing at the time. We used it maybe three times (to great effect), broke up, and I haven't used it since. My question is, I'm with a new girl and want to see if she's interested in incorporating it into our sex but since it was used in a previous relationship I don't know if it's acceptable to use it again. What do I say if she asks why I have it?
