I don't want a male roommate, am I being irrational?
I recently moved to a new city for uni & am living with an old friend from high school. We are both working part-time jobs at the moment so it is definitely not enough to pay for the apartment she already has a lease on. I suggested getting a third roommate; she jumped on board and said she would look for one.
She mentioned one of her close male friends was looking for a place to live, and she would bring it up to him. I’m a little unsettled about living with a guy, though I am able to look past my hang-ups and give it a shot.
I met him at a party last night and instantly got a bad vibe from him. He spent the whole night drunkenly slurring sexist & racist remarks. My roommate is under the impression that this guy is a typical GGG and refuses to believe this guy would say anything of the sort. Maybe it was the alcohol talking; however I just get this horrible vibe from him and feel completely opposed to living with this man. She seems to be under that idea that I hold some sort of safety mechanism/I hold too many grudges towards men, which is not the case. I would be completely fine with finding a different guy if she insists on having a male roommate, she's just not budging.
I guess I’m just looking for some advice on what I should do. Right now I see no other solution than moving out and getting my own place, though I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that.
