Suggestions for Starter Radio

Hey everyone, I recently received my Technicians license, and was wondering what would be a good radio to begin with, with the potential of expanding in case I decide to shoot for my General Class. I don't know much at all about brands, and am very knew to the scene. I studied hard for the test, but outside of what I learned during those sessions I know very little. Any thoughts on what would be a good way to start would be much appreciated. I'm looking for something reliable, not overtly complex, but not a cheap n00b radio (even though I am sort of a n00b). I've taken a look at all your suggestions and have been in contact with a guy near where I live who has a few of them, so I'm going to go take a look this afternoon.
