I have some questions about getting together my first build.

~$1500 budget. (March 30)

~$500 budget. (April 30). If I need to.

All I have right now is an old keyboard and mouse. I'm using a laptop right now so I will be needing everything.

  • Whole PC
  • Two Monitors (One Pivot)
  • New Keyboard
  • New Mouse

I will need this right now:

  • CPU
  • Motherboard
  • Memory
  • RAM
  • Hard Drive (SSD & Standard)
  • Video Card (7870/7850/560ti 448)
  • Case
  • Optical Drive
  • Monitor (Pivot)

I want to get this later:

  • CPU Cooler (So I can OC later)
  • Video Card (SLI/Crossfire)
  • Monitor (Non-Pivot)
  • Keyboard
  • Mouse

Questions:

CPU Cooler:

  • Can I just use the stock one?
  • Or if I plan to upgrade eventually (which I do), should I go ahead and get a better one?
  • If I get a different CPU cooler which thermal compound should I get?

Motherboard:

  • I've noticed that a lot of people get the Z68.
  • Does this mean it can run two 7850 at x8? Do I need x16?

2 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots (PCIE2/PCIE4: single at x16 (PCIE2) / x8 (PCIE4), or dual at x8 (PCIE2) / x8 (PCIE4)) (PCI Express 3.0 with Intel Ivy Bridge CPU, PCI Express 2.0 with Intel Sandy Bridge CPU)

Video Cards:

Right now the only game I know I want to play is Skyrim w/ Mods.

  • 7870 (Will this be enough?)

(If I get one of these. Will I eventually need to SLI/Crossfire)

  • 7850
  • 560 TI 448

Case:

  • Will it work?
  • Any better other suggestions?

Monitor (Alt):

Sorry about so many questions.

I've watched the Newegg videos and tried to do as much research as I could.

TL;DR: Any improvements on the build I picked.

--Edit--

Updated:

I think I've decided pretty much what I want. Thanks to everyone who answered.

Then, I plan to update my build later when I get the money.

  • I plan to overclocking my processor and add this cooler.
  • Get a second monitor.
  • Finally, if I need to I will Crossfire the 7850 using another one of these.
