TIL Knight Kirk can still invade you even if you haven't met him in the depths first, and you still get all the items

So in my NG+ I havent ran into Kirk because I already have the items, but I was human while in Lost Izalith and he invaded me where the pyromancer was near the Bed of Chaos entrance. At first I was surprised because I hadn't encountered him at all previously during this NG+. I killed him and he dropped this sword and shield, the armor is probably waiting for me in the usual spot too.

I've read that you had to encounter him each time to be able to get everything from him but I just proved it otherwise unintentionally. Learning new stuff even after I thought I've learned it all. Dark Souls.
