[request] Soldering/fixing broken microphone wire from iMac in the Boston Area.

For a couple of years I never used my microphone on my iMac. Recently I noticed it wasn't working. I took apart the imac to check the connection and it looks like the wires were terribly crimped and exposed. I don't know if this happened when I got service at the apple store way back in the day, or if it is just wear and tear, but this was the first time i opened it.

After unplugging the mic and plugging it back in, I didn't have any luck. So I tried to remove the microphone, but in doing so I believe I may have completely disconnected one wire from the actual microphone on the other end. Who knows maybe it was already like that, but regardless I'm not quite sure how to fix it. I've done some soldering in the past but these wires look too fragile to me and I also don't want to damage the actual microphone. If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it. I'd be happy to grab you a beer/burger or something afterwords. Thanks so much.
