Question on Shelf Life of albuterol inhaler

My son found some expired albuterol inhaler. This is the good stuff and he was quite excited to find a small stash. He has not liked any of the news since the long time albuterol inhaler was tossed out for CO2 issues.

One of these expired in 06 and the other 08.

What is the half life of effectivness?? Should they be tossed? Can he take it?
