Got a Trace Elliot Velocette from my neighbor, but it smokes every time it's on.

My neighbor gave it to me for free. It'll turn on and sound comes out, but in no time there'll be this really bad smell, and a little bit of smoke. I have never used a tube amp before, and I was wondering if any of you smart people happen to know what's going on.
