It's my birthday, so I thought it was time for a formal introduction!
Hey MLPLounge, this isn't my first post here, and I've been on for about a week, but I suppose that it's time for a formal introduction, and a big thank you shoutout to bronyhood. About two months ago, I found out that I had a bone tumor in my leg that needed removal, or risk it becoming seriously malignant or shattering my Tibia on its own. This was quite a slap in the face, because it was discovered in making sure my ACL tear had finally healed. I was pretty down, and life was just generally crappy. Before I went into the hospital, some of my friends told me about being bronies, and how it was a fantastic escape from darker things, but I passed it off as being ridiculous, although I am proud to say I didn't actively make fun of them for it. Three days later, the nursing staff has stopped OD'ing me on morphine, and I could breathe on my own again. Hospitals, as you may know are depressing as fuck, and being unable to walk, let alone get out of bed added boredom to depression. I though back to what my friends had told me about the show, in all of its happiness and bright colors, and how it can be a real illumination in a dark time. I gave the show a try, and my life hasn't been the same since! I feel that despite the fact that I'm not going to walk normally for another three months, plus the previous two already, the world is a brighter place! The brony community is fantastic as well! Not only has the show taught and entertained me, it has changed my general outlook on life for the better, and allowed me to embrace some of the incredible fan work, especially the music, that such talented people have worked hard to make, and are still made fun of by their peers. So bronies, thank you for helping me through this tough time! Edit: Apologies for the wall of text. TL;DR: Had a tumor, was depressed, discovered being a brony, outlook on life changed!
