Should you focus on making short films? Or a feature?

Do you think it is better to make a highly produced short film, or an ultra low budget feature film in order to get noticed in the film industry?

Learning aside, this is just about getting noticed or "discovered"

I think there are pluses and minuses to both, Features get a lot more respect at film festivals, but agents and managers are more likely to watch shorts - plus the off chance they go viral.

However we have all seen many amazing shorts and many amazing features that do nothing for the filmmaker.

I try to abide by the "If I have a story to tell, tell it" but as we all know, the production and time that goes into this can be disheartening if it is doing nothing for your career.
