[Build Ready] Gaming/Hackintosh build.
Okay, first time builder here. Primary goal is a solid, affordable gaming rig that will play BF3, and other current generation games if not at the best settings, at a smooth, high-ish frame rate (50+). A distant secondary goal is dual-boot hackintoshing. I'll still have my 2010 MacBook Pro, which isn't the best for gaming, but it's perfectly capable for 90% of what I do, so the hackintosh angle is just for fun/because I can. The key parts required seem like solid, often-recommended parts anyway. Plus, even though I'm comfortable in Windows 7, it's just one more thing I can do with the build.
Aside from that I'm looking to keep things open later on for 1) over-clocking, 2) upgrading video card and/or Crossfire/SLI, 3) upgrading CPU, 4) upgrading drive to SSD, 5) possibly a higher rez monitor. The case is probably the most extravagant thing here, but I like the looks of it, it seems really easy to work with, and from the reviews it looks like a "buy this case and you won't have to worry about your case anytime soon" case, so it's not just for vanity. The PSU also seems a little overkill for this exact setup, but like I said I'm trying to keep it flexible. Basically, I want to hang onto this build for awhile so upgradability (within reason) is something of a priority.
Been lurking for a month now and slowly tweaking this build based on opinions and requirements, and it seems pretty solid to my newbie eyes, so hopefully I didn't make too many rookie mistakes. Also, since I need to shell out for a monitor, keyboard and mouse as well, I'm trying to keep the complete total for everything in the $1,100 range. I live in the boonies, so I have to consider shipping costs as well.
Thanks guys. In my short time here I've been really impressed with this community, and I'm open to any/all opinions!
