Differences between southwestern French & Québécois

I'm Californian and learned most of my French from a teacher who grew up in southwestern France. In college, I spent a year in southwest France and I'm just trying to get a feeling as to how different Québécois is.

I'm planning a visit this August for the Osheaga festival and want to know how useful my French will be :)
