setting up a home server behind a router and with dynamic ip
Hi all, I just built a new desktop and I'd like to setup on it some simple server "things", like ssh and mail, to ease syncronization with my laptop and android phone. I really know next to nothing about how networks work; where should I start to read?
From what I've found out in the last 20 minutes, probably the easiest way to set up something like this would be to use something like dyndns (since my ISP gives me a dynamic ip); however the other obstacle is I'm behind a dlink router which gets resetted at least once a day by flatmates, and everytime I get a different ip and want portforwarding, I have to go in the router settings page and manually change it - can I avoid this?
EDIT: I meant it gets rebooted once a day, not resetted
