Males of Reddit. What is proper urinal etiquette?

Peeing at urinals is something every male does and I've always wondered what is the proper way to pee into one.

I've narrowed it down to these two ways. One being peeing directly into the urinal water which causes a lot of "noise" (aka the trademark sound of taking a piss). The other being peeing on the back wall of the urinal and letting the pee "slide" into the water without any noise.

Are there situations where one method is preferable to the other? Also as an added bonus, what are your thoughts on eye contact and personal space in public restrooms?
