What did QLD Labor do wrong to lose by such a wide margin?

Politics tragic here, but my knowledge only goes as far as SA, Federal and US politics.

What did Labor do wrong for such a long time to lose so convincingly?

AFAIK Bligh did good in the floods, but I think it is easier to shine in disaster than when things are going ok.
