There are a few problems with our game at the moment, but no bigger one than the "Box Kick"

I mean honestly, what a horrible excuse for a kicking option. Has anyone ever seen one work? From what I've seen the best a side can hope for is the opposition knocking on? Can someone please explain the tactics behind the box kick? Why do sides persevere with it? Waratahs FTW!
