How I feel about the stand included w/Uprising
The stand that comes with Kid Icarus Uprising is pretty nice. It's light weight, and if need be, easy to carry with its folding design. The rubber grips on it hold the 3DS much more tightly than I imagined it would, and if I move the DS around, the stand ends up sliding around with it. One thing I'm particularly happy with in regards to how it's built is that it can hold a system with a cover on it. My 3DS has a Zelda PDP Crystal Case on it, and it fits on the stand with out any issue. The extra weight seems to be just enough to stabilize the stand even more. The way the stand supports the system is very nice, and certainly makes playing the game a bit more comfortable if you have a table of a decent height nearby. Its not something you'd carry around often, most likely, but when I'm in a stable location, I feel like i would prefer the stand to supporting the system with my hands. It doesn't eliminate cramps however. I have fairly long, skinny fingers and they still feel the pain after a while, because of the stand inherent weakness; the inability to comfortably move with the player. Imagine if you were writing something by hand, and you could never move the sheet of paper around to be easier on your wrist and fingers. That's my only real problem with it. Using the 3D makes that an issue too, because unless you're in a comfortable position, you cant really move the system with your line of sight easily if you tend to move around. The stand, despite its problems, is a very nice piece of plastic that certainly does its job. Its good for more than stylus based games too, providing a desk stand for watching netflix or using 3DS sound to view a slideshow. Its also great with more games than Kid Icarus: Uprising, especially the original DS Zelda games. The piece of plastic is free, so the problems aren't quite as important. Having it means you have to option to use it or not at no extra cost. I, personally, will be using it as it makes for a more comfortable experience as long as I'm home with a comfortable chair. I can deal with not having it anywhere else though, it doesn't change the gameplay experience enough to be a necessity. Find a place where you can try one out, and you can decide if you want to use it from there, though I'm sure you'd probably feel the same way I do.
