A few questions about cars.

I know very little about cars, so I apologize in advance if I seem clueless. Odds are, I am.

1.) I drive a generic 4-door sedan. Are there any cheap/easy modifications I can do to boost the power of my engine a bit?

2.) A certain car I want is a Japan-only model. Are there special rules for importing cars with the steering wheel on the right side? Or just foreign cars in general? I thought I read somewhere that there are some restrictions, but I could be completely wrong.

3.) What are some qualities to look for in a perspective off-road vehicle, barring modifications such as a reinforced axle and a custom suspension system?
