Can anyone cut off the bottle of glass bottles?

I am trying to do a cute little garden and I have these sweet glass bottles I'd like to cut the bottoms off and and plant upside down for my herbs and other small plants.

I tried the steps in this video but I am not getting the cleanest breaks and it sends cracks up the bottle.

I figured we have a ton of more talented and skilled people that might be able to help me out!
