Questions about a girl I'm dating, and dating without commitment in general.

Basic Info: I'm a guy, she's a girl. I'm 24, she's 26, we both have our own places. We met on okcupid a little over 2 months ago. We go out or visit each other about once a week. So far, we just mess around. We go as far as hands in the pants.

Anyways, a week or so ago we were just talking and making out, and I asked her if she was seeing anyone else. She said yes. We never really talked about this before, and I guess I was kind of surprised at the answer.

I get that people can date without making any kind of commitment of exclusivity, but I'm kind of wondering how I'm to conduct myself if I begin to see other people too. I'm not very experienced in dating. Is this a common thing these days?

Sort of unrelated question about the same girl: Yesterday afternoon I gave her a call to see when she wanted to get together next. We agreed that this morning was probably the next best time for us. Today she no showed. She was supposed to come over to my place and hang out before going to a weekend class. When I texted her, she apologized and said that she had forgotten. She then offered to take me to dinner Monday. Should I still be mad? because I'm still pretty annoyed about it. Anyways, I accepted the dinner.

To me, it seems like a failure to complete a date plan made the day before is pretty unacceptable. But she is trying to make it up I guess..

But back to the point

  • how common is dating w/o commitment?

  • how does that even work?

  • should I still be mad bro?

Thanks for reading and hopefully responding to my first world problems :-)
