Ladies of sexxit, is a bruised vagina something I should be concerned about?

I honestly don't know where else to ask this. Last week I had some rather intense sex with my boyfriend, and the next day my vagina was in pain. Over the next several days, the pain went away but my vagina felt swollen, like the vaginal walls had closed in. I had no other symptoms so I don't think it was a yeast infection or something similar, and everything was back to normal after a week. I can only guess that I was bruised. Has this happened to anyone else? Is a visit to the doctor necessary, now that everything is okay again?
