[Build Help]Overclocking\XMP at Stock speeds failing?
So I just built my system, and using default settings for everything (note: default, not stock), I am rock solid on benchmarks. However, I have bought ddr3 1600 ram for my setup (i7 3930k, Asus P9X79, Noctual NH-D14 SE2011). My idle temps are at roughly 42 degrees as reported by windows\bios\etc.
In the UEFI I go to (Advanced mode-->AI Tweaker --> AI Overclock tuner --> X.M.P). Then I set Memory Frequency to DDR3 1600, about once every 5 boots it will pass through and work, but the other 80% it tells me that the overclocking failed. I have never had a UEFI bios or an unlocked cpu before, but as far as I can tell I am not overclocking anything yet.
Thanks guys. the ram is here
Edit: I have updated via flashback to the latest bios version, as well as loading the optimized defaults then changing the profile to XMP.
