Pokemon = Asari?

So lately I've been playing through Mass Effect 3 and breeding a team for a Soul Silver play through. While having a Buneary and Machamp go at it over and over to get myself a Jolly Machop with the elemental punches it dawns on me, Pokemon must mate like Asari. It would certainly explain why the babies are always of the same type as the mother, and it explains that the males can pass on moves since Asari only seek a "father" for purposes of genetic variance.
