Hotel Baker in St. Charles... yea or nay?

Review of Hotel Baker

I'll be traveling to St Charles in mid-April for work, and I have been booked for a week at the Hotel Baker. Reviews like the one linked above kinda put me off (can't bring your own beer into the room? really?!?), and it's not too late for me to change my reservation if I need to.

So, locals... please tell me what you think about Hotel Baker. Thanks.
