Canadian doing a working Vacation in Australia. Any tips or advice about the trip/planning process and what to expect?

I arrive on June 7th in Perth and plan to spend some time working there before I travel around the rest of Oz. I have accommodations and work already lined up. Just wanting some tips and ideas for when I'm there. Cheers!
