My beef with the New 52:
I stopped reading comics probably 5 or 6 years ago now, but I got sucked back in by the New 52 Batman story. It really was quite good.
Was being the operative term.
Here's my beef, and I've seen it now in a few other New 52 titles (Aquaman, I'm looking at you...)
It seems like they're taking a story that, back in the 70s or 80s, could have filled a single issue and stretch it out way beyond any possible need.
Don't get me wrong, the Court of Owls story is damned awesome and setting up someone like Talon as a villain seems pretty sharp as far as an anti-Batman goes.
But it's been going on for SEVEN issues now and it looks like it will continue until #11. This is the kind of thing that Denny O'Neil would have knocked out in 1 or 2 issues, tops.
Same thing with Aquaman... the whole bit with the killer fish people, that's a one issue story, but instead it was teased in #1 and ran all the way through #4.
Or am I just missing something here?
