Advice for a recurring social situation?

Am rather new to Reddit (Started on Imgur), but had an idea for a question while browsing this subreddit. For a little backstory, throughout my entire high school experience there seems to be people that are seemingly antagonistic and insulting just for the sake of it. I hate to generalize, but most of those who are most vocal about their dislike for me have been three girls with the same sort of situation occurring with each. I only know them through other girls that I talk with a lot, but any interaction that occurs is usually full of mumbled insults and glares.

Is this something that's a recurring theme in social situations, or is it something wrong with me that makes certain people not want anything to do with me? I'm not tearing my hair out at the fact that people that dislike me, but it's happened so often that I feel like it could probably just be something I'm doing wrong (Being the socially awkward penguin that I am.)

Has anyone else been in a similar situation, and if so, what's your story on how you dealt with it or the conclusion you came to, as well as some advice for people in a similar situation?
