The guy who shot Trayvon Martin isn't the problem; he is a symptom. To blame him is to blame the victim. The real problem is the hatred and prejudice in this society. I created a new subreddit r/peoplearepeople to come together, share stories, and discuss these issues.
My vision for this reddit is for people to share stories from their lives about hatred and prejudice, so that together we can become more aware, learn, and maybe laugh. What do you guys think?
And to be clear, I'm not saying that what he did is right. But I believe that the problem doesn't stop with him. We need look beyond him for the real cause, otherwise this will continue to happen. For example, we have a media that is complicit in it's negative and racist display of portrayal people.
