(SPOILERS) About the star-douche and the keepers...
I was talking about how stupid the ending was with my sister, and we thought of something. This has probably already been said, but I didn't see anything, so here it is. (This is also my first time actually posting something on reddit, so I apologize if I fucked it up somehow.)
So, the star child says that he's in control of the reapers. Since the reapers are in control of the mass relays, it stands to reason that, if he controls them, then he also controls the relays. That includes the citadel, as it's a relay itself, so why the hell didn't he just open the citadel himself in the first game? What was the point of having Sovereign dicking around the galaxy for a few years building an army?
Speaking of Sovereign, since the star-fuck should have control of the citadel relay, why bother having either the reaper vanguard or the keepers? The whole point of the vanguard/keeper is so that the reapers can come through the relay and surprise-attack everyone, but if star-bitch has control of the relay, it makes both of those things completely pointless.
I might be wrong about this, but I think that our cycle was supposed to have already started a few years before the first game. The only reason we have that time, is because the last remaining Protheans disabled the signal that the vanguard sends to the keepers. So what was the point of the first game? We were chasing Sovereign and Saren around to stop them from opening the citadel relay, but if the star child has control of the relay, then...just...what the fuck.
Am I completely wrong about this, or is this just yet another plot hole in the me3 ending?
TL;DR: The introduction of the star child makes the reaper vanguard, the keepers, and the whole plot of the first game completely pointless.
