How would I go about finding how many chromosomes Sisymbrium irio has?

If this information exists that would be fine, but how to go about finding out myself might be better. I was told that an unfertilized megaspore mother cell was where to start. Where do I go from there? Do I treat it in some way to make the chromosomes visible? Will a 1000x microscope do the trick?
