Sheikh al-Albani and Sheikh Waleed Basyouni

Sheikh Waleed Basyouni was about to meet sheikh al-Albani and so he read up on some of his reserach. He learned (from his research) that a student of knoweldge, upon greeting his sheikh, should kiss his hand (without bowing). And so he attempted to do so when he met him. As he went to hold his hand to kiss it, the sheikh pulled his hand away. Confused, sheikh Waleed Basyouni said, "..but...but your research...". Sheikh al-Albani said, "You have to do what you have to do, and I have to do what I have to do". Meaning, your job is to attempt to kiss my hand out of love and respect, and my job is to be humble and not allow you to kiss my hand.

This was in the "fiqh of love". I found it very beautiful :)
