I'm a high school history teacher looking to brush up on my Mayan History to help a student with an independent project. Good sources to start with?

As a high school world history teacher I am acquainted with all, master of none when it comes to my subject. One of my students is really into the Mayans and is writing a book. This is her second book to be published (She's only in high school, very impressive) and she is looking for information about the Mayans. I feel honored she has asked for my help. What are some of the best sources I can use to get started? Or, what would be a great approach for us to delve into their culture/ civilization?
