Mass Effect 3: why the end is not really the end.
After the controversial mass effect 3 ending, many people are upset, not being pleased with it. Watching this video leaves room for doubt about the future of mass effect though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ythY_GkEBck&feature=player_embedded From that video, there are a few key points that need to be remembered.
-Why is shepard the only one that can see the child? In his dream's, which have all the characteristics of an indoctrination, the child is present. If there were no relation between the child and Shepard's indoctrination, why does the machine that controls the reapers take the form of the child? It was never explained.
-The Rachni's description of indoctrination was one similar to the re-occuring nightmare that Shepard has, with the shadowy figures, the reaper voices, and once again the hallucination of the child. The images continue to carry over, as in the last scene you begin to see the trees from the nightmare in real life litter the battle field before shepard gets shot up to the citadel.
- After talking to the weird god child, you can make your decision. What is peculiar about this is that there is only one ending in which you can see Shepard suddenly gasp for air, and that is if you choose to destroy all the reapers. Be it, you can only achieve this ending if you max out your galactic readiness, with support over 5,000, but still; the fact that if you destroy the reapers, Shepard suddenly comes back to life. This is what truly convinced me. If Shepard really had been beamed up to the citadel, how did he end up back on earth, unscathed? He surely would have died in the crash of the citadel. It just doesn't make sense.
All three of these main points convinced me that BioWare and Ea are plotting something big. Mark Meer, the voice actor for Shepard has even been quoted saying that "Changing or expanding the end of the game wouldn't be unprecedented", and what person better to know that then the man who voices the main character. Ending on a positive note, BioWare is known for surprises. The plot twist to KOTOR was one of the biggest in video game history, so who is to say that Mass Effect 3 won't hold something even bigger? Maybe I am just being hopeful, but it would be nice for a DLC that actually revealed everything.
This is just an opinion, and I am sure you have heard a lot of this recently but i just felt it had to be said. If anyone has anything that would might prove otherwise, go ahead and say. Just don't be a dick.
