In the field that I work in I regularly destroy hundreds, if not thousands of dollars of government-purchased medications/merchandise. I feel this is abuse of the tax payer and profiteering by corporate elites. Do you experience similar issues?
I work with disabled adults. Which means I deal with a lot of political bullshit. I'll give you the TL:DR version- Every month I destroy several hundred, if not thousands, of dollars in medications. Lets say I have a person who takes 1 medication as a regular, every day thing. They also take this same medication as a "Per needed" medication (Lets say they get violent, or cannot sleep, etc). As the law stands, Medicare cannot bill twice for the same med. So the pharmacy will send me the same medication twice, and if the client only needs said med 2-3 times a month and they provide and bill me 2 months worth... I have to destroy all the excess and start over the next month. Who pays for this? The pharmacy. Who pays? The tax payer.
This is an example of rampant waste and stupidity in our government and medical system. What stories do you have to tell?
