Looking for Ghosts. Indoctrination Theory Examination by Professor Solus.

Foreword: no censure of data, spoilers certain.

Assume Indoctrination Theory, true. (Citation 1) Would require planning, anticipation of ending.

First game, exposition of process, story played out at face value. Implementation of Hudson's intentions for end, not necessary. Private plan.

Second game, foreshadowing future indoctrination, evidence in writing. Shepard compromises morals, works for Cerberus. Enticed by Harbinger. Collectors and Reapers become "White Whale". Indoctrination plan not stated by Hudson. Story has own merit. Hudson's ulterior motive, not revealed. Plot stands on own, foreshadowing subtle, only Casey could know.

Third game, Indoctrination plan put action. Aspects of story, spurious, but explained as character development. Writing seems sloppy, yet visually striking. Viewer accepts story, indoctrinated with Shepard. Hudson's plan still subtle, convince writers of key scenes, false motivation.

Ending harder to control. Writers have own plan for characters. Indoctrination plot, must be kept secret. Casey has options. Entrust writers with Indoctrination Theory, could cause crisis, lose focus on work. Writers guardians of character personality, must remain true to nature. Also possibility of leak.

Second option, handle sensitive ending personally. Only lead writer involved... to maintain character continuity. Seems this Hudson's choice.(Citation 2)

One problem. Player experiences game as Shepard. Shepard unaware of indoctrination, so is player. Probable source of community backlash.

Summation.

Indoctrination Theory, amazing writing. Remarkable execution.

Alternative Explanation, poor writing. Lack of direction, staggering. Indoctrination Theory is... psychological need. Looking for ghosts.
